Welcome to my weblog.

Went to see the movie Lost in Translation today. Just looking at the tag line of the movie: 'Everyone wants to be found', which is an obscure but nice insight into the movie. I thought it one of those happy but sad movies, kind of like American Beauty. I think it's an excellent movie - well worth seeing. Oh, btw, it's got bill Murray, who does a fantastic job (which won him a BAFTA, I believe), along with the lovely Scarlett Johansson. To reiterate: fantastic movie.

Well, these entries seem frequent then! Must remember to write them more often.

Recently bought myself a Canon 85mm/1.8 for my sports photography.. (I shoot a number of different types of events, but mostly horse related.) For indoor photography it's fantastic - very useful focal length and nice and open for quick shutters - I highly recommend it.

You might want to watch out for the 85mm/1.2L, which you would assume much better. According to reviews on Fred Miranda it's not that great for sports, due to it being fairly slow and soft. I obviously realise it's a portrait lens, but adapting it for sports would have definitely made me buy it.

I'm finding myself, now that I'm investing silly amounts of money in camera gear, that buying stuff from the US is surprisingly worthwhile.. I recently bought myself a bare X-Drive II (digital wallet, camera thingy) for £58 with delivery.. That was about £70 cheaper than the UK! I can highly recommend My Digital Discount. I had my X-Drive delivered in two days.. This is quicker than I could from someone like Dabs.com in the UK (who I find are fairly sloppy these days).
